About us

The story of our team

The Groupe Dialogue Chiropratique, the GDC, was established on December 28, 2018. We are a group of Chiropractors who have the future of our profession at heart. We share a common vision which is to apply our energy and voice in the service of the Chiropractic profession; to contribute in making it more respectful of its origins, and what the profession can truly bring to the health of humanity. We also want to work towards establishing a greater degree of respect between the different parties or groups that compose it, and make it a more harmonious cohabitation. To be able to do this, we want to create opportunities for constructive and structured dialogue amongst us, Chiropractors.

We would like to thank Drs Christian Beaudry, Martin Bezeau, Sylvain Dubé, Jean-Pierre Morisset, Jonathan Vallières, chiropractors and Medhi Harici, chiropractic student for their contribution to the development of the Chiropractic Declaration and its dissemination.

The measures that we will use to fulfill our mission are based on a Transparent, Open, and Respectful (TOR) communication between us and with other professions as well. In addition to this blog or weblog, meetings will be organized in order to exchange and inform; to be able to raise awareness to the members of the profession, as well as associations and regulatory bodies, to the importance of a greater respect for the differences within our professional environment, whether it is differences in philosophies or approaches with the goal of optimizing health.

It is very important to understand that Chiropractic is a science, art, and philosophy. The philosophy of Chiropractic is based on notions of vitalism, holism, conservatism, naturalism, and rationalism. It provides a context for the application of science and art. Health is an optimal state of physical, emotional, and social well-being. The philosophy of Chiropractic is based on the principle that life is intelligent. This innate intelligence strives to maintain a state of health through adaptive mechanisms. The nervous system is recognized as an avenue for these self-regulating processes. An interference in neurological function can disturb these mechanisms, as well as imbalance homeostasis, and have a negative impact on health. Chiropractic stipulates that subluxation of the spine and other joints of the body can affect the function of the nervous system and therefore expression of health, which can lead to symptoms, disabilities, and diseases. The understanding of the vertebral subluxation complex continues to progress with the early writings of D.D. Palmer on the misalignments of vertebrae, and other joint structures, and must include other anatomical, physiological, biomechanical, chemical, and biopsychosocial factors. http://www.palmer.edu/about-us/identity/#Philosophy_Statement

There are currently more than 100 000 Chiropractors worldwide. Chiropractic is practiced in more than 90 countries and is currently regulated in 48 of them. Responding to patient’s interests in a professional and ethical way, the Doctor of Chiropractic uses their experience and the best available evidence to make clinical decisions, provide care, and manage health problems that are reversible naturally, without medication or surgery. In addition, the Doctors of Chiropractic comply to the laws and regulations that govern the practice of chiropractic within their jurisdiction, particularly in regard to documentation, coding, and invoicing.
